When Life Moves At Lightning Speed How Do You Find Your Footing?
Holding excitement and gratitude with grief and fear.
Mornings are quiet around here. By morning I mean the time before the sun has come up. No cars on the road, fresh coffee in my cup, I’m the only one awake in our little two bedroom apartment except the 16 pound cat purring on my lap.
Tuckers purrs are incredibly loud. He is a thirteen year old Tuxedo cat who is mourning the loss of sleeping under the covers with me every night. My girlfriend and I have been sharing a full size bed which feels like a twin most days because I am a restless sleeper and live in a much bigger body than she does, anyways there is no room for the cat. He also exists in a bigger body and we already push her to the edge.
Change is bright on the horizon though and approaching at lightning speed. We are closing on an actual house in 9 days. Precisely 19 days until we will be sleeping on a queen size mattress! This is HUGE for us. I thought home ownership would be out of reach for me for many many years, possibly a lifetime. The change barreling down the horizon at us is possible because between my girlfriend and I we are attempting to build a life together with a HUGE wage gap between us. That comes with its own unique challenges that did not occur to me early on in the relationship.
Interruption Counter - (1)dogs need first bathroom break. That’s all the time we have this morning. Until tomorrow.
